What to drink with a steak dinner?

Just the standard steak (ribeye or filet, I haven't decided), baked potato, broccoli, and bread.

I haven't had alcohol in twenty years, and I quit soda three days ago.

Anything you can think to order besides water?

Many bottled iced teas are either high in sugar or sugar substitutes like Splenda. And Splenda will wreck havoc on your body.

What I would suggest is brewing your own tea and finding tea flavors that don't require you to add additional enhancements outside a squirt of lemon.

I have a variety of loose leaf tea, many from Teavana, in which I do not need to add anything extra to enjoy it. It's mostly fruit based teas like their Youthberry and Blueberry Roobibos tea. Speaking of which, if you don't feel like adding a ton of caffeine to your daily intake stick with Roobibos teas. Roobibos isn't a tea like the stuff that you normally use. Instead it's a root found in South Africa that is naturally caffeine free. Decaffeinated beverages (of those that normally come with caffeine) tend to go through a highly chemicalized process to remove the caffeine and even then there could be traces of caffeine in it.

3. Nothing wrong with drinking water with your meal

I do drink alcohol and I could probably give you about a dozen craft beers that would good great with steak but my guess is you aren't interested in returning to alcohol. Nothing wrong with that.

However, most meals I usually drink water - it's what I like the best and the healthiest choice out there. I could drink Milk but I'm finding that I'm lactose intolerant. I could drink juice but that is high in sugar. Some folks might drink 'sparkling water' but I am not keen on that stuff (for the same reason I don't drink soda - I can't stand carbonation).

So unless I want to booze up every meal or add something I don't enjoy drinking or with too much sugar -well water is looking like the best choices there is.

Embrace it!

And don't add those flavor drops to your water. Most of them are made with artificial sweeteners to help keep down the calorie count and artificial sweeteners are just as bad as using regular sugar. Only 'sugar-sub' I use is Stevia since it is a natural plant.

I would have gone milk in the fairly recent old days. But halfway through my fifties I find I've become lactose intolerant as well. I used to live on the stuff.

And I don't think I'd ever use flavor drops. I'm a subtracter, not an adder.

I was surprised how well I adjusted to water BUT it has to be filtered. My refrigerator makes great water. I like some bottled waters when I'm out but they get stupid expensive at restaurants. If it's happy hour I'll just get beer. And restaurant tap water is a toss up - it could taste like good clean, filtered water or it could taste like dirty sink.

I also got real comfortable with unsweet tea - and I don't do any artificial sweeteners - that stuff is poison. But I don't like to drink caffeine after 2 so it's usually water for me.

My tap water tastes like shit and bottle water can be expensive. I have found filtering it with Brita makes it tastier

I have health problems which mean I can rarely drink. If I'm not drinking wine with my steak, I order hot tea. Nice restaurants typically have a choice of flavors and I usually choose chamomile.

Hibiscus tea. or lemonade. or water with a squeeze of lime.

not sure why you quit soda - because of the sugar? then just carbonated water might be nice. (or also with lime)

Milk ain't really my friend anymore.

But I don't really eat a full-on steak dinner more than about once a month.

Water just seems somehow wrong.
