Just put out enough for daily use. We've run through 4 cases of Costco oranges this winter. The quality seems to be better than at the local Paymore.

Apples, oranges, bananas, plums, nectarines, etc, go in a basket on the counter.
Strawberries, blueberries, grapes, etc, go in the fridge.

I generally like fruit cold. Even when it's in a pie.

and all other fruits in the fridge. I prefer room-temperature fruits, but the fridge keeps them fresh longer.

Yesterday I bought some of those green bags that are supposed to help keep fruits from spoiling quickly, and I put the bananas in one of them. They look stupid in the fruit bowl now, but oh, well, if the green bag keeps them edible longer, I'll be happy.

It reminds people to eat more of it. I also keep tomatoes at room temp.

I have a bowl of grapes in the fridge right now and they are out-of-sight and out-of-mind, it seems.

Strawberries in the fridge, though.

13. Interesting factoid - most fruit doesn't improve after picking. Big exception - pears!

You can't let them tree ripen - they go from hard to ripe to overripe quickly.

Pineapples and melons, contrary to what many believe, are no better than the day you buy them (softer, maybe, but not sweeter).

Oh yes, the question - bananas in a bowl, ripening pears close by, everything else in the fridge
