I deadlifted 500lbs today

I'm in my 90s.* I maxed at this in the 1960s and worked my way back in the last couple years.

Never, ever, let people tell you what you can and cannot do. My VA doctor told me to stop lifting bc of my knees 30 years ago. I think he died 10 years ago.

* Yeah, I was dizzy as heck for probably 30 minutes after. Lisnopril 10mg.

5 years ago. As long as you keep it up, it will help your bones and joints to stay healthy
longer. There is a time limit though -- with some it comes sooner, with others later.
You're in the later group.

Not doubting you, but even posting on even turning on a computer, let alone posting on DU in your 90's is damn impressive. I doubt Jack LaLanne could even come close to 500 pounds in his 90's.

Edit: I guess I'll be called the jerk here for speaking up, but the record is 187.5 pounds for someone over 90:

So if what you are saying is true, you should contact the Guinness Book of World Records ASAP.

I have no idea what the standard for dead lift is. Way back in the day, my fuzzy memory is you had to lift it waist-height ?

I know several gym friends who are in their late 80s who bench 215 for reps.

If the question is "do they use steroids" the answers is "yes, since the 1970s."

My kids deadlift, but I've never done it.

I'm afraid my arms would pop off, like in that SNL skit.
