(20,176 posts)Nimoy, when his character was killed-off on Fringe, announced that he was retiring from acting altogether in order to pursue his other interests (many people do not know this but Leonard Nimoy is also one of the best photographers working today in artistic erotic nudes, his photographs hang in some of the foremost gallery collections in the world. Legitimately a world-class artist and photographer.) and enjoy retirement. He had ruled-out this very guest-appearance on more than one occasion in interviews.
I wonder what they got to change his mind, he certainly doesn't need the money.

(19,736 posts)He's REVERED on that show, and probably that SET!
And this picture is way more rad.

(19,736 posts)I'm thinking she may just not have been on set. She is one of the only ones with kids on the set. I'm not sure if you'd read much about her lately, but she's gone way hippie with her parenting. No diapers. Hug it out. Everyone sleeps in the same bed. I'm sure that takes a lot of time out of her day.
Bertha, it is so nice to see you.
Bertha Venation
(21,484 posts)and thanks. It's good to see you, and it's nice to be seen.

(54,397 posts)He played himself, and "Sheldon" got a restraining order from coming near his home. Pretty funny stuff!
They must have a LOT of fun taping that show. Too bad we don't get it here (at least not in English).

(6,238 posts)That's the only person I can think of who gave Sheldon a restraining order.

(54,397 posts)I know Stan was a big deal back in his Marvel days, but although he is still active (he was 89 last December!), living in Europe as I do most of the time, I don't always know to what extent younger people know who he is these days. I know some on DU know his name, but I never know to what extent his name rings a bell everywhere. Here in Europe, practically no one knows who he is.
white_wolf
(6,238 posts)I don't know how well he is known outside of comic book fandom. Penny's reaction to hearing his name on the show is probably a fairly accurate representation of what most people would do if you told them his name. I've always been more of a DC fan, I love Batman, than a Marvel fan, but I love Spider-Man and the X-men so that is where I know Stan Lee from.
DFW
(54,397 posts)I never dreamed I'd ever end up friends with the guy who invented those characters, but if
you'd told me in 2002 that a friend I had just made would, within less than 2 years, be the
most famous Democrat since Bill Clinton and Al Gore, I'd never have believed that, either.
But guys like Stan and Howard have to know SOMEBODY, right? I just happened to be in
fate's path when the sorting out happened.
I don't remember Penny's reaction in the Big Bang episode, I'm afraid. I was at my brother's
place in Virginia, and he told me that a guy I knew had a cameo role in a series on some American
DVD he had, and that was Stan in Big Bang. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had a clue what the
Big Bang series was.
By the way, Stan has never lost his sense of humor. He made up a limerick for me to recite to a
group of people I was talking to:
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To do some things they shouldn't
But when they got
To the perfect spot
They forgot the Viagra and couldn't
I hope I can come up with stuff like that when I'm closing in on 90!

(18,497 posts)We have about 53 episodes now I think.
Best of all, one of the stations started showing from episode one a few days after we started saving them. Another station is airing from episode twenty.
I don't think it's getting the current episodes though and I really want this one. Does it come on tonight? I think I might have to bump back Key and Peele for at least this week.

(41,435 posts)I remember the day Leonard Nimoy tweeted that he'd been over there, and I spent the rest of the day thinking about how wonderful the atmosphere
must have been on the set that day. He didn't say he'd been a guest star, but even the thought of them all hanging out perked me up for hours, nerd that I am.
LLAP, Leonard! :salute: (because there's no LLAP smilie)
Singing:

Warm kitty
Little ball of fur.
Happy kitty,
Sleepy kitty,

The scene in the episode with Fun With Flags, where Amy Farah Fowler stated, "I'm surrendering... to fun!" was probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
