As long as it is used up in 4 days or so (not really an issue), it stays very fresh.

(husband works for a cabinet manufacturer) ..lucky me

any bread that gets left out, gets gnawed on by a "bread-eating" cat \

he also loves to eat purse handles and shoe straps

carb-kitty and dog will share bread if they can get it. the microwave acts like a breadbox, when i use the microwave, i remove the bread, then replace it after the MW cools a bit.

This setup works for my household, too! But it's a pain to have to take things OUT of the microwave when you want to use the microwave.

At the time I had rats (though they have since been exterminated), I was wondering where all my bread was going. Finally, until I got rid of the critters, I put it in the microwave. They could eat through a lot of things, but not the microwave door. I do not like refrigerated bread and I discovered that it stayed fresh in the microwave.

I live alone, and any place else, it would be stale before I finish it. I find that it is as good as fresh bought when I take it out of the freezer and thaw in the microwave for (depending on the kind of bread) about 30 seconds. Or if I think about it in time, it thaws quickly in a plastic bag on the counter.

but my Mom lives with me & she puts it in the fridge. I hate cold bread, and putting it in the toaster doesn't do anything to get it to it's original texture. I go with bagels or english muffins & I don't eat sandwiches, now.

Which is a long loaf shaped plastic container . I live alone and don't eat a lot of bread and the doo dad keeps it fresh longer--less waste . I freeze any bread I have extra.

Otherwise one of the cats has figured out how to pull the loaf out, rip open the bag, and eat the corners off 4 or 5 slices.

Damn ingenious cat.
