For tailgate partying! At Loudon, the camping lots open at noon, on the Sunday before the race. The first few years, the local cops could not beleive the amount of beer consumed, or the miniscule amount of trouble.

They used to take wives/girlfriends, but they decided they preferred to go solo. The wives are fine with it, since they also travel a bit solo

2 of the wives are not particularly friendly with each other, and they were not interested in the race, so after about 3 years, the wives chose to not go
