Eagle-eyed viewers of the Pennsylvania Game Commission's live stream caught a possible injury on one of the Hanover eagles last week.

Screen grabs show a scrape around the beak of one of the eagles, near the nostril, said Codorus State Park volunteer Karen Lippy, who heard concerns about the injury from members of the Hanover, PA Eagle Cam Facebook group. Lippy then contacted area wildlife rehabilitators and the Pennsylvania Game Commission, who determined the injury likely is not serious.

The bird appears unfazed by the scrape, continuing to stop by the nest near Codorus State Park for a few minutes at a time to drop off sticks, said Travis Lau, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The injury appears to be the result of a scuffle with another bird, likely a juvenile eagle, said Wendy Looker, a Game Commission-certified wildlife rehabilitator who has worked with birds for more than 20 years.

The egg is a month away from hatching.
