Mad Men:

They're starting off real slow--typical Mad Men style. There's always more going on than you see at first. But I'm a little surprised at the lack of surprises. Everything, so far, is just a linear progression of where we were expecting things to go from last season,

Sal would have never said that.

Maybe its just me. I loved the first 3 seasons, but I haven't felt as dazzled by the show as time moves forward. The humour was still good (Coop and Sterling are the best!), but too much romance and weepy stuff for my taste.

6. agreed, it did not have that edgy surreal quality to it...not as strong anyway.

Sally's scenes did have that quality and I am holding on to that.

7. Yep, the Sally character is the gift that keeps on giving.

Her character is more edgy and unpredictable than her parents. Kiernan Shipka is a very talent young actress too.

10. If the show goes into the late 60s, the Sally v. Don/Betty/& Step Parents battles should be epic

Sally's the near perfect counter culture age.

Pete has gone from being an annoying, insignificant little twit to a big-time pain in the ass.

Don seems to really care about Megan, and she seems to have more influence over him than Betty ever did.

I see some divorces ahead.. Pete & Roger

here's an interesting synopsis I found online

8. Thanks for the links. Mad Men is infamous for its underwhelming eps. They were planting seeds.

Jury's still out on Megan. Last season she seemed like a sweet pushover. I figured she'd be gone by mid-season this year. I'm thinking Don's met his match.

Pete, as the show's token liberal, is always a curveball. I loved the way he handled Roger. He's still 50% clueless. He's one of those people who gets the joke after everyone else has left the room. But he is a straight shooter. I think he and Trudy are gonna make it. They're the only non-smokers in the room!

11. Well that was a huge WTF episode

I'll have to watch again to fully appreciate it.

I don't like the slimmer Harry and I don't like the fatter Pete.

I think Megan on the balcony might have been a hint ... I don't like her character, and I don't like what she has done to Don. Ugh! Betty was at least interesting.

This episode is showing the transition to the late 60s, all the orange and shag and kitch. They still have some cool stuff but the set design is noticably changing to the more tacky side.

And Joan WTF?

And Roger with his one-liners--I mean, he always did it but this much? And he's brutal to Jane.

I think the intent is to make us feel the unease of the era, things are getting all screwy.

And Lane? FFS. First he's unwatchable when he's on the phone with that strange woman, then he's in a good scene with Joan, being compassionate. Swear I thought they were going to kiss and that was going to be it for me.

Weird, weird episode!

Peggy is the only one acting normal!
