They've sprouted beans and peas that were more than 2000 years old. Unless they get moist, they are in stasis.

It also had a date on the lid from 2002. However, the date was something like,"August 15, 2002, 3:12:42", so I figure it's either a "canned on" date, or that Wegman's really, really knows when these beans going to go bad down to the thousanth of a second. I'm eating them in my salad anyway. They taste fine, and no ill effects to report, so far.

Actually, I've had them on my salad a few times and they taste fine and I'm fine. Good to know, because canned goods have to last through a zombie apocalypse or we're screwed.
