(28,941 posts)I defy anyone who thinks that Shakespeare is the ossified, decaying icon of British hegemony, to see a good production of King Lear, and not be moved beyond the power of words to express.

here
I have to disengage myself lately. Today, I resigned from a local non-profit group that had me doing most of the work. I finally figured, "why do I think I have to do some things out of duty, when I can do some things out of passion instead?"
You just have to give yourself permission once in a while to take care of YOU!

(66,388 posts)You might not like me very much IRL; I'm on the membership committee of a local organization, and lately, my co-chairs have been doing the bulk of the work, because I've been too busy with other things...
Good intentions only get one so far...

(2,682 posts)It's been a bad week for you. So sorry ((hugs)) Your work is so important to so many so surely there have been some bright spots in your week -- concentrate on those while you grieve what can't be changed.
All the rain we've been having hasn't helped any either. When it rains, I get that sore spot at the base of my spine -- that little touch of arthritis just to remind me that I'm getting to be an old shit.
Well, as my favorite philosopher once said, "Tomorrow is another day."

(2,682 posts)a nice piece of chocolate produces the same euphoric effect. I've already had my piece of chocolate for the day -- a Camp Fire Girls chocolate with caramel and nuts. Eaten slowly it's just like sipping a fine wine (so I've heard).

(4,451 posts)I have a rare disease that went un-dx for years. It was an ER doctor who finally said I saw this one time before. Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. A biopsy was sent to the Mayo clinic it turned out he was right. I owe him my life. No other DR. had a clue. Still don't. This doctor has no idea how grateful I am, so I am sure you have many grateful patients you may not be aware of.
