(27,247 posts)Around here, though, this type of weather has been known as "Sankan shion" for quite a while-- that is, a cycle of "3 cold days and 4 warm days", where the cold days are sunny and the warm days are cloudy, like yesterday and today, respectively. Sankan shion is generally considered to be a precursor of spring.

(8,976 posts)(and you are one as well, I believe) every time some ditz of a weatherperson tries to explain wind chill to me I wish I could strap them naked across the front of my bike and take them cruising on a rainy 40 degree day...

Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Wind chill values as low as 20 below.
The dog wants to go but she wants to come back in too soon. So then, she begs to go out again.

(17,216 posts)... which is not too far from where I live. I personally don't subscribe to the "wind chill factor" completely, because I can't see how they can quantify a subjective thing like "how cold it feels." But clearly, if one is going to brave Mother Nature in the Northeast this weekend, he should take care to bundle up.

(72,300 posts)As for me, I'm not venturing out.
The only cold I'll feel is when I open the back door so Miss PIA can be out on her leash.
