(16,334 posts)I follow a few just to see what they are working on and when they may be in the area to promote a book.
Along with that, they may tweet all kinds of things about their day to day life and some of it isn't very likable. Might be superficial or even just plain ass-holish at times. And I wonder how they can write deep, meaningful books while being so shallow online.
Sucks to find out they are human.

Would have loved to be a fly on the wall over hearing Terry Prachett and Douglas Adams talking.

(8,171 posts)him quickly. I don't remember what they were about. He apologized and since then he likely self-edits.
I do like Stephen King books, his love of the Red Sox and his politics and yeah, not a good feeling when someone you admire says stupid (or worse) shit.
Now it appears Meryl Streep has stepped in it. And of course Gloria Steinem a week or so ago. Luckily I am of the full belief that humans are fallible.
on edit: One of my fav authors has a Twitter account but does not tweet at all, maybe that's for the best.

(12,132 posts)It happens to me more in music than literature but I've gotten rid of more than a few CD's when I found out what assholes the musicians were.
I can't unread a book but I sure can stop talking up an author if I find out they are dipshits.
