anyone know how to find divorce records on someone?

My niece is dating a man who wants to get more serious, and she wants to check him out, particularly to find the date of his divorce. I realize that details of the divorce are probably not public record. But isn't the date of it public record? How to find it?

Try googling the court system information for the state where the divorce was filed. For example, in my state, Minnesota, this kind of information is readily available here: http://pa.courts.state.mn.us/Search.aspx?ID=200

I see a lot of those for-pay background checks, but I am pretty suspicious of those and would sure not like to enter my credit card info in one of those sites.

I'll take a look at it. Also, I'm wondering if it is possible to just get that info at a county courthouse.

those records should be available at no charge. Good luck, hope your niece isn't getting hooked up with a dodgy character.

I suppose I should pay for one of those background checks that are so commonly used by dating women today, but I have no idea which one is good.

I signed up for a "one-month" subscription. Three months later I learned they were still charging me a monthly fee. I called the service and they did refund the money, but you have to stay on top of your credit card statements. Be careful.

They will bill you until you tell them to stop, apparently. Sort of like ancestry.com.

It ruled out convictions and bankruptcies (although I really did care about the financial end of things).

On edit: Now that I think about it, I don't think it mentioned divorces!

probate, bankruptcy, civil and most criminal files are open record in colorado and that's where i'd go to get them.

...we just haven't gotten around to it yet. She is bored, even with the best picture window in the world for a cat, looking out at an active bird scene on the riverbank. She loves to play, but we haven't found any excellent toys yet. She shrugs off the laser pointer, and is meh to catnip toys.
