(131,184 posts)I did see short piece of an interview, of DC's emergency manager, and he sounded like he was/is prepared. Haven't gone out yet, and NOT in town, do I dunno. SURE looking forward to SPRING!!!

(36,063 posts)she lives in NYC over by Prospect Park.
When she lived here outside Milw, she would do things like wear deck shoes without socks to walk to HS on snowy mornings.
We have some concerns...

mythology
(9,527 posts)of putting it in big piles on the street and hoping it goes away. Unfortunately, putting it in big piles makes it not go away.
It amazes me how bad they are at dealing with snow here given it's common. DC at least doesn't regularly get significant snow.

(9,898 posts)I'm from Philadelphia and happened to be in Boston a bunch of years ago for a blizzard. To this Philadelphian, Boston was amazingly efficient at getting rid of the snow. They had the place cleaned up in the time it takes Philadelphia to decide what to do. On the other hand, Philadelphia beats DC in snow clean-up. DC in two inches of snow is about as effective as a turtle on its back. It's weird, really. I've seen the Feds completely transform a small town in a matter of three days in preparation for a Presidential visit, but sprinkle some snow around their homebase and they can't out the front door.

(95,337 posts)so I kinda assume that DC being a bit further south of me probably is seeing all this crap melt.
