(37,748 posts)Though I know nothing of the character, Cumberbatch really seems to bring an additional sense of both gravity and intelligence to the roles he plays. If this is part of the Avenger's franchise, I'll be sitting in the theater simply to see his own performance contrasted against the lighter and more breezy air of nonchalance and one-uppance the other characters (Ironman, Capt. American, etc.) have already engendered (which I have no criticism of).
And, Sherlock special in 2.5 days!!!! PBS, 8:00pm CST!

(37,748 posts)If available, check out the movie, Amazing Grace. He plays Prime Minister William Pitt the Younger opposite Ioan Gruffudd as they attempt to legislate the English slave trade out of existence. That's the film that got me hooked on him.

(56,828 posts)when I was big into comic books. However, the casting of Cumberbatch is awesome, and the others in the cast are great as well - Mads Mikkelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton...
