The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHelp me out: what are the best and what are the worst times to go to Motor Vehicles?
I have to bring the title to my new car over in person (don't ask why, I just do) and I am dreading it. Is there a time of the day or of the month?
Gotta wrap this thing up. Still in pangs of love for my new car (Nissan Versa) but they are subsiding. Mostly, like the guy in the car commercial, I am going out of the way not to get a scratch on it. It's an interesting color: gray amethyst. So very classy and pretty, don't you think?
Thanks, folks.

(35,750 posts)a lovely car, CTYankee.
In NJ, they have cams that are at every DMV so you can check to see the lines.
I also would suggest times like Wednesday between 3 and 4, as most people put DMV at the top of their list of things to do on a particular day. Mondays and Fridays seem the most popular.
Finally, you might call your local DMV office and ask them when the best times are. They'll be eager to have you come at an off time, and will be happy to share that info.

(63,912 posts)So I'm thinking a Tuesday, maybe a bitter cold, nasty looking day in January (just no snow tho). People won't want to go out and if it is a gray day, they might just go to a movie instead. Or get into their jammies and binge watch something...
I'll also look on their website for info and they might have those cams...
Thanks for the compliment on the car. What a relief. One less thing to worry about, like will the car start today...I got a pretty good trade in deal (I thought my 16 yr. old Altima wasn't worth anything but I got $800!) but my old car had pretty low mileage and all new tires. But I was at a point where the repairs were running more than the car was worth...

(63,912 posts)and no crossing the Q bridge (changed configuration and I can't figure out where I am going at one point so I avoid the damn thing whenever possible -- who wants to go to the shoreline anyway, so that leaves out Saybrook ?) Some parts of the state I call the Bermuda Triangle of CT.
I'll ask my hairdresser who lives in Old Saybrook...good idea you planted there, KA!

(78,249 posts)It appears to merge into 95 shortly after the crossing.
Note: The last time they monkeyed around with the Q-Bridge, things got so bad they had to start the Shore Line East rail service!

Whatever she does, she should not go on Tuesday or Saturday.
Even on Friday I was there 4 hours.
That was last month and I doubt it has improved.
