LA family and Manhattan family getting Harry & David gift boxes. WI dear friends and neighbors getting Legal Sea Foods (including their famous chowdah).
Easy Peasy. I figure everybody's gotta eat and getting a gift basket with a variety of cheeses, sausages, nuts, cookies, and some fruit is a treat. Midwesterners get some East Coast sea food.
It's all good...

(11,362 posts)Now that chowder is all I'll be able to think about for the next few days.
I'm in the Midwest, and had no idea they shipped the stuff.

(63,912 posts)I was a girl from Texas who had never encountered a lobster in her life until I got to the East Coast many years ago.
Also, you have to have "crackers" and they are not saltines, they are the device you use to crack open the lobster tail and other delicious parts to get the meat out and you have to use a pick for that. Believe me, it's a lot of work but wow, is it tasty...have yer melted butter nearby and a big napkin and go for it...

(11,362 posts)Even though it seems like this should not happen, we can get lobsters. I assume they are flown in. I can even even make my own chowder - but it's not that chowder.
I'm originally from New York, but I've lived here a long time.

(63,912 posts)I needed something easy and they make it simple, giving you the option of just repeating what you did the year before. works for everyone as it turns out...

(21,046 posts)Try Eilenberger's Bakery in Palestine Texas. Much better than the famous Corsicana fruitcake. Www.eilenbergerbakery.com.

(63,912 posts)terrible. When I discovered that it could be excellent, esp. with tea (afternoon break) I sought out better made fruitcakes and really liked them.
Thanks for the tip...
