Meanwhile, back at the White House...

Barack Obama says hi (OK. not really), and so does Cecile Richards (yes, really). The "old guy (depends on your perspective)" is Lee Huebner, a journalist from way back who knew a mutual friend (now departed) who used to satirize the Republicans. His name was Art Buchwald, in case anyone remembers him. Lee used to edit the old Paris International Herald Tribune.

Someone clearly knows he is among friends!

Warmest December in DC that I can remember for a long time.

Two years ago, while waiting outside for WH security, I nearly froze to death.

Back to Germany tomorrow, as reality vertigo sets in..........

Looks like all had a wonderful time.

It was a very mild December night in New York State, as well. My youngest daughter and her choir perform at an outdoor Remembrance Ceremony at a local cemetery. Usually my teeth are chattering. Tonight was very pleasant.

Happy travels, DFW.

Can't believe I have to head back in 8 hours--and then back over here again in 2 weeks!

There is no rest for the weary (still beats a desk job, though!!)

At this point, I'd kill for a week with NO travels!

But stopping off at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is always a worthwhile interlude when the invitation comes.

Some day you will retire, whether your employer likes it or not.

Hang on to that thought!

We stay in touch on a VERY sporadic basis, and I usually only see him once a year. Not exactly "close," but I hope to keep in touch after he leaves office, too.

Actually, we just missed each other in Alaska in September.

Speaking of earlier years:

Spent a few days in the Poipu area (never made it up to Princeville, but did see the NaPali coast). NICE place to be!
