I received a copy of my note stamped "paid in full." It will go in my important file papers.
It took a bit of courage on my part to write the damn check but I am still totally glad I did.
Of course, I had to pay a couple of months on a loan but they gave me a much better trade in value on my old car so it worked out well that way. They sure don't want to miss an opportunity to make you lose your courage and go for the lure of that monthly payment...they know it's hard for folks to write away that much in a lump sum. But I got got my courage up and just did it...
"Free and clear." That feels good.

L.A. Times car review:
....And both repel the attentions of the opposite sex like Gortex repels water. These cars have the erotic charge of abstinence-based education, the epicurean frisson of room-temperature tofu.
Yet both are, I discovered, pretty endearing little cars. To drive them is to benchmark how far cheap transportation has come since the days of the death-wishful Ford Aspire and Chevy Celebrity. Both are safe -- with good to great government ratings in front and side crash tests and reasonably fuel-efficient (in the 30-mpg range). Both are spacious, lively and fun to drive within their cheapskate limits. Either has fit and finish and a list of optional equipment that would have been the envy of Rolls Royce a decade ago.

(63,912 posts)worth. Had to put the hammer down and start seriously looking for another car, after being out of the market for so many years. It turns out the Nissan brand I had gotten used to was still the best for me and lots others, too. It was a wonderful buying experience, altho I was dreading it like crazy.
The best thing is waking up each day and not wondering "OMG, what could go wrong with the car today..." That is no small thing, believe me...
