Is this his new "do" since becoming Speaker? Now he thinks he's Ben Affleck?
It's not working for me.

(66,446 posts)I guess he wants to go down in history as the first SotH to wear facial hair in over a century.
The last was 1925.

(2,188 posts)But to the millions of bearded men in America who face job discrimination on a daily basis, it is important. Someone as high-level as a bearded Speaker could help end the discrimination, and first time in 90 years is big news.

(1,818 posts)In WI, deer hunting is a major event. If you ever watch a Packer's game at Lambeau when it's real cold out, 90% of the fans will be wearing orange - it's their deer hunting gear.
Quite a few of the hunters only grow beards for deer hunting. They start about three weeks prior to the season (which lasts for 10 days ending with the Sunday after Thanksgiving) and some keep it for a couple of weeks to a month or so afterwards.
Now, I'm not saying Mr. Ryan is deer hunting. However, it would not surprise me if The Ryan Fount of Truth waited for a couple of years, pulled out these photos during an election campaign and sent them out on some 'Ryan for Sportsman' brochure stating - 'Paul Ryan during hunting season 2015' implying he's just 'one of you'...
Then again, I could just be getting cynical in my old age.

(10,893 posts)is like seeing Joe Mauer with one this past baseball season. Beards on them just look out of place for some reason.
