The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIt was 24 years ago today Freddie Mercury passed away! Post your fav Queen song here!
https://m.I doubt we will ever have another lead singer as great as Freddie Mercury, the ultimate entertainer. Probably one of the greatest live performances was Queens 20 minutes at Live Aid back in 1985.
So share your favorite Queen video here so we can remember the life and times of the great Freddie Mercury

(15,676 posts)He passed shortly after completing this video. To be on the edge of death and still be able to sing like that- he must be singing with the angels now.

(2,805 posts)I don't think I had ever heard it. So sad to thing how poignant the lyrics must have been to him at the time.
Thanks for the post.

(65,076 posts)Lots of wonderful elements to that one from the bouncy piano, to the playful lyrics, to the thick rich guitar riffs. That's a good pick

(29,503 posts)kind of like Pet Shop Boys - lyrics they write so that listeners think about them, as opposed to Katy Perry squirting fake breast milk or Nicki Minaj squatting and twerking on-camera, lol.
Cheers.

Gave me goosebumps then, and gives me goosebumps forty years later.

(21,046 posts)They were making fun of a popular British soap opera called Coronation Street, and the Americans got really mad at them because they thought they were gay. The Americans didn't realize that was just part of British humor. I knew it because I watched Monty Python. Roger had on a blonde wig, eyeliner and a short cheerleader-type skirt, and was prettier than most girls.

(3,818 posts)When a pop singer can hold his own with an opera singer, well nuff said! The intro to this is great but if you want to skip to where Freddie comes in to sing, go to 1:55.

(2,805 posts)The way he transitions from the snippet of Bohemian Rhapsody to Radio Gaga is great.
Queen had so many great songs, that were all so different that I just can't pick one but this concert is what I have on my table for play while making dinner.

(2,805 posts)Sorry, when I start to think about his discography/videos I can't help but gush.
Beautiful voice and such a showman. And didn't go by any formulas in his songs. He could do anything and his force always stole the show.
I miss him. Can't believe it's been 24 years and his voice and songs still get to me every time.
Thanks for the post but it is costing me quite a few tissues.

(21,046 posts)From the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert, Roger Daltrey sings "I Want It All", with Tony Iommi on guitar helping out Brian. There used to be a better quality version of this up on YouTube that had an intro with Brian introducing Tony Iommi and together they played a bit of Heaven and Hell. And then Roger Taylor introduces Roger Daltrey and they play a bit of Pinball Wizard before Roger sings. Roger Daltrey rules. Still. At the age of 72.
Brian May is God. That is all.

Brian May actually sang this song on the album but here's Freddie singing it.
One of my other favorites from the Jazz albums, which to me was the last great Queen album. My second favorite song behind 'Fat Bottom Girls'
One of their most rocking songs!
One of their first very great songs from the first album!!
