I just saved $129 in a service call from ADT Security

I inherited my father's house with an ADT system. It was loudly beeping b/c the batteries were low. I wasn't around when the system was installed, no manual, etc.

I called the 800# several times for assistance but really got none. All I knew was the keypad was attached to the wall. I didn't want to indiscriminately pull the unit off the wall, break it, and render it useless. OTOH I didn't want to call ADT for a tech to come, pull it off the wall the right way, and then charge $129.

I was determined. I looked at it from all angles and all that had to be done was push the unit up and then pull it from the mounting.

Now I can change the batteries.

BTW, I've had such a run of bad luck lately, this small thing makes me very happy.

My husband wanted it. I hate it. It used to go off in the middle of the night with a horrible heart attack-inducing screech. One of the corgis' barking would set it off.

Sometimes it would go off from humidity in the basement. Or because of a spider web in the something-or-other.

I refuse to acknowledge that it is still here. He has all the dealings with it/them now.

Good for you for figuring out the damn thing!

A Basenji, a large lab mix, a smaller lab mix, and a 110 lb feral rottweiler/something mix.

I know someone that had two trained dobermans-they let you IN the house.
When you tried to leave they copped a "Make my day look"

Max had a thing about ladies' purses.
He was fine with bringing them in, but not on letting them back out of the house.
I guess he figured anything that was 'in' the house was ours and shouldn't leave.

Miz t. or I would have to take the purse and walk our friend out the front door.

Or if it can use a fire extinguisher.

Dogs are a great addition to a home security package, but it's a mistake to rely solely upon them.
