Actually, here in Germany, we still open our doors to strangers during the daytime. At night, seeing as how there are roving bans of thieves from the Balkans, and some of them are armed, we are a little more cautious.

Of course, if it's a snarling live gargoyle, we want to see his ID first.........

I'm not sure it would have been such a good idea to tell this particular door knocker what he could and couldn't do! His gargoyle seemed to have an aggressive streak to him............

No one ever knocks at night, but I probably wouldn't then unless I recognized them through the glass in my door.
We've become such scaredy cats.
I loved this video, though. A lot of work went into the 'costumes.'
