Coyote strolls into East Bay Safeway store, startles shoppers

http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_29115989/coyote-strolls-into-east-bay-safeway-store-startles

No one was injured, but some were alarmed, when a wily coyote casually strolled into a Safeway store Friday night, police said.

About 6:50 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of a coyote in the Safeway at 3496 Camino Tassajara, said Danville police Sgt. Jason Ingrassia....

Ingrassia said he was surprised when the Police Department received a report of a coyote in the store.

"At first I thought they were just incorrect -- that it would be some kind of dog, but it was a coyote," he said.

He was probably looking for the Acme outlet store in the same strip mall.

Had one trot by us when we were out walking our pups in the green belt the other evening.

They can get pretty big.

not the eponymous one in Connecticut where I grew up.

edit: I could actually see this happening in Fairfield, Conn. Once a friend was taking me back to the train when a turkey strutted across the street! We had a good chuckle, since her 30-plus-pound cat (srsly! :wow) had a serious jones for turkey.

...while sitting at dinner in a Thai place in Los Gatos, listening to my youngest daughter and son-in-law talk up the merits of some ultra-dark beer called "Rasputin"-something-or-other.

And I was thinking to my 60-year old self "Gee, my favorite beer is an ice-cold Bud Light."

How on earth have I fallen so far? 😑
