I'm going to have boatloads left over....my son just cancelled our Thanksgiving dinner that was suposed to be the 22nd because he has slipped into his winter (bipolar) funk and can't handle leaving his house. I just bought at 25lb turkey. My husband can't eat dark meat because of his kidney disease and I only eat about 8-9 oz of meat a week, so freezing isn't a solution...it won't last that long.
I do know a lot of people with kitty cats, though!

(2,101 posts)Researching the idea of making gourmet cat food to sell at craft fairs, I asked some of the gourmet dog food vendors why they didn't make food for cats. Without exception, it came down to the finicky nature of the beasts - you can't second guess what a cat will eat.
Perhaps if you were to blend the turkey in with a commercially available food little fluffy would rather suffer through eating it than starve. Then again, you're dealing with a cat so perhaps NOT!

(2,101 posts)Whenever I visit my ex-wife I give her cat a fresh bowl of water with ice cubes. She loves me for it (the cat that is); Nel usually casts me one of those looks that the cat will never understand. Must keep the cat happy.

(6,930 posts)I have never had a problem with that. My sweet ones who are now gone lived to 14 and 15 years old. Large dogs. They loved turkey.
My newest boys have yet to taste it, but I truly do not see that I will deny them turkey on turkey day.

(11,795 posts)and some can't. I had a dog eat a whole pound of fudge and all that happened was that he puked. I had another dog eat a small piece of chocolate cake and the vet gave him charcoal and made him vomit, he was so sick.
But I believe the tryptophan is not the problem actually (I had to go look), but the richness of the meat can cause pancreatitis.

(6,930 posts)I only eat turkey once a year, so I imagine it was not a big deal.
But they loved their turkey leftovers.

(50,560 posts)To get them to eat it - although convincing cats to eat turkey is not a hard task - simply put the turkey you want them to eat on a plate, put the plate on the counter, and yell at the top of your lungs, "I better not catch any of you damn cats eating any of this turkey!"
