How can you not be??!!!
I've been rocking out to all the albums today in historic order. I'm up to 'Out of the Blue' right now.
This band is fricking AWESOME and how Jeff Lynne is not in the Rock & Roll hall of fame baffles me!
Post here what your favorite ELO song is!

(2,302 posts)Heard "When I Was a Boy" and it's lovely...great video goes with it.
I think ELO's biggest fault is the sameness of so much of their work.

(95,337 posts)I started with 'No Answer' which was the first ELO album and it's a far cry from what I'm on now which is 'Out of the Blue'
They have evolved but I do like that they have that sound.
I'm absolutely in love with 'When I was a Boy'. I love the line 'When I Was a Bed, Music would start to fill my head'. That was pretty much me as a young girl and even today.

Can't wait to get the new album. The new song "When I was a Boy" gives me chills every time I hear it. It's like NO time has passed in 40 years.

(18,837 posts)...the last album that really grabbed me was "Out Of The Blue" in 1977. from the Xanadu period forward, even though I still followed the band, I was more of a casual observer than ardent fan.
I really enjoyed the first album, when Lynne's bandmate from The Move, Roy Wood, was still in the mix. He's the one who really brought the "Orchestra" to "Electric Light Orchestra." He had a few fun and eccentric solo albums but never got anywhere near the success that Lynne had with ELO. The "Eddie And The Falcons" album he did with his band Wizzard is still a ton of fun, very similar to what Zappa did with "Cruising With Ruben And The Jets."

(1,815 posts)In my vinyl collection is a copy of the ELO that has "Roll Over Beethoven" on it. Not sure what possessed me to buy that. But, sure, I like some of their stuff.
