I'm still on my squirrel watch. They ain't gettin' any furrier here.

They're all skinny little guys. Folks here say "wait a while." But I think Mother Nature knows what we don't and if she's good not giving the squirrels more fur, who am I to argue? So it's not going to be a super cold winter.

Amirite?

that it wouldn't snow, you didn't want it to snow, so you bought a snow blower.

See how that works?

I just remember standing out in knee deep snow for the 4th time in 3 weeks last February.

If we get no snow I'll be plenty happy but at least this year I'm ready. I won't be envying my neighbors this year.

Those furry caterpillars you see crossing the road? My mom always said if they were brown or black it would be a cold winter and if they were yellow it would be mild.

Of course, I haven't lived down south for a long time. However, having grown up in southern TN we would see them every fall and Mom was right!

One was the ordinary black and brown stripe. The other was solid brown. That could mean anything. (I have never seen a yellow woolly bear.)

We do have a heavy crop of acorns, however. The deer are already coming for them. Lots of crabapples too.

this would be a winter of about two weeks...

In bad weather, we have them delivered. Normal weather I get them carried to the car and I just take each one out from the trunk of my car as needed...that works...

jet stream that the MSNBC weather guy was talking about today. But he was also including Chicago in the warmer winter category so that's not too far from you.

It's going to be near 80 in Washington D.C. where I am going on Saturday. Elleng tells me the weather is going to be mild there this weekend...

The one thing he has in common with the GOP, he complains if the temp is more than a few degrees either side of 67 degrees...

Been uncommonly warm the last couple weeks in Minneapolis, it was nice enough not to need a jacket yesterday.
