The valiant airmen were being awarded their combat medals. One by one, the air marshall presented them to the duchess who pinned their medals on the them.

"This is Lt. Jones, m'am. He shot down three Messerschmitts." Lt. Jones receives his medal proudly.
"And this is Captain Sweeney, m'am. He shot down six Messerschmitts.". He too has a medal pinned to his chest.
"And this is Lt. Rogers, m'am. He shot down four Fokkers."

The old duchess, medal in hand, walks over to Lt. Rogers and asks
"What were those Fokkers flying, also Messerschmitts?"
