I went on an aurora-shooting photo workshop up to the Brooks Range last week and wasn't disappointed. Here are a few shots.
Fisheye aurora. The river here is the middle fork of the Koyukuk River.
Aurora with the full moon behind clouds. The mountain is Mount Sukakpak.
Aurora with the Big Dipper. The light is approaching dawn at about 2:40 a.m.

I never get to see the aurora down here in Texas. I have to go to my son's house near Seattle to view it, assuming the sky is clear.

But it was just a few grey-green wisps, nothing as intense as what you saw.
