I just had my first business trip there. It was a bit more interesting then I thought it would be. A lot of interesting architecture, very cozy downtown, not quite as white-bread as I expected. However, I did not expect the huge homeless problem they have there. Does anyone know if they are trying to help these people? A lot of them were very aggressive. I gave quite a bit of money away, but I have lived in NYC, Boston and SF and have never quite seen such a visible homeless problem as I did in Cinci. Does anyone have any insight to this problem?

(6,697 posts)Cincinnati civil rights leaders have a fit any time the mostly white police force attempts to keep a lid on aggressive behaviors. Add in the fact the city council is more concerned with putting more money in Mike Brown's pocket than helping provide services to the poor.... recipe for it to only get worse.

They should start caring, if not from a human rights perspective, at least because it makes their city look bad. I have lived in NYC, San Francisco and Boston and have never seen a homeless problem to the extent of Cincinnati,

(12,132 posts)right across the river from Cincinnati. My dad took me to my first baseball game there. Pete Rose and Johnny bench were playing. I remember getting a Bobby Tolan bat because it was bat day. It was a big bat too - not the little chop-sticks they give out today. It was big enough for a 6-year old to swing and hit rocks with (although admittedly probably not full-sized). I think my dad was kinda pissed I hit rocks with it.
But that doesn't add anything to your actual question and I apologize for that. Thanks for indulging me - I love remembering activities with my dad.
