And do you still play it sometimes?

(16,191 posts)Still have the original box, cd's and everything else for it to do. And yes, I'll fire it up every now and then when I'm feeling nostalgic.
The oldest game I have that I still play with any regularity is the original Grand Theft Auto (1997). It doesn't look anything like its later sequels, and doesn't have their violence or graphic content. It's basically "Steal cars, outrun cops, don't get caught". It's loads of fun and quite addictive.

Yeah, I think Sonic the Hedgehog 1 is the oldest one I have.
KMOD
(7,906 posts)I had to play it often to help out the kids.
I think I still have one of those handheld football games with x's and o's around here somewhere.
Really. DOS-based text games like that basically will work until the end of time...or computing.
I haven't played it in years...doesn't exactly have great replay value.

(14,400 posts)still has our old Atari 2600 and she claims there's still a box of games there too. Now if I could only find a TV that still had those antenna screws that you had to connect it with.

(18,421 posts)It might be easier to find. And that should still connect to modern tvs via RBG cables.

(14,400 posts)I've got one of those too, thanks.
The next time I visit Mom I plan to go through the basement to see what still exists. If I can get it up and running it'll be hilarious to see what the kids think.

I've got Apple II games on disk too, and I've generally had good luck reading them all these years later.
But mostly I've long since copied them to modern computers and play them on emulators.
My Raspberry Pi 2 does a fine job with the Atari and Apple stuff.
I played a lot of Pengo on the Atari:

(14,275 posts)I forgot about it. I'll have to pull it out and play again if I can find a 9 volt battery!

(14,275 posts)That was the last version made for Mac. I'll be damned if I'm going to buy a game console just to play a game that is essentially the same year after year. Thirteen years I faithfully purchased the new version annually until EA got lazy and abandoned the only platform I enjoy playing it on.
