(53,339 posts)They were surrounded by eucalyptus trees, and that's where we climbed and built our tree forts. One consequence was our moms having to throw us in the bathtub as soon as we came in the door.

If I let myself dwell on them, I weep.

(53,339 posts)Ann Margret was always relegated to the sex kitten parts and Natalie was the serious actress.
We lost Natalie too soon, but we're lucky to still have Ann Margret.
Of course at 10, a lot of us were still lusting after Annette.

On the subject of lust at 10, I definitely had stirrings about Lori Saunders and Angela Cartwright. At least Angela was reasonably close to my own age.

(17,209 posts)We moved from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia. The culure shock was massive. I can still remember my Philadelphia Aunt asking me if I wanted a soda, and me replying "Wow, yeah, strawberry!" I was crushed to discover she didn't actually have a soda fountain in the house.

(25,816 posts)10 was just a year away from 11, my BIG year. I was quarterback of our 6th grade team, Captain of the Safety Patrol,
and President of the choir. And out of 66 possible grades (11 subjects, 6 grading periods) I got all A's. I held hands
with Margaret Lester at the performance of the 1812 Overture (I was teased for that) and got several Boy Scout merit badges.
It's been all downhill since then.

(4,056 posts)Totally saturated with music that many think will never be as good again! So 10 was a great year for me--I was probably already about 5'5" but I didn't care. It wasn't till I was 12 and everyone started telling me how hard it was gonna be to find a husband since I was so tall that I became self-conscious. I hate seeing little girls stress out about their looks these days!
