I decided to embark on an exercise program while I'm at work
Some days at the urgent care center are totally insane. I don't stop running from 7:30 am until closing...or later if somebody decides after waiting hours or days or weeks that they need help at 2 minutes before 8pm. (wtf!?!)
Other days, though, are very quiet and once my morning maintenance, calibrations, qc and various and sundry other checks of temperatures, water flow for the DI, etc., are done, the day drags. I read. I read some more. I take care of one set of labs. I listen to music. I read some more. And so on.
So last Saturday was one of the 2nd types of days. Sometime in the afternoon, I realized this wasn't doing my health or diet any good. So I cranked some Bon Jovi and started exercising. I was really getting into it, eyes closed, dancing around, just starting to work up a sweat when I opened my eyes and the new nurse -- like me, a per diem ~60 year old man -- was standing at the log checking in some specimens and staring at me like
12 effing hours, and he walks in on the 3 minutes that I cut loose.
I explained what I was doing; he was like "ok. riiiiight." So I took care of the labs. Went back to reading. I was afraid to try again. Maybe next Saturday?
