(36,827 posts)It can greatly increase your overall health, but it's not really a great solution for weight loss simply because of the amount of effort you need in order to burn off calories. It is effective in keeping the weight off.

(62,423 posts)I think they changed the name to "fructose" only and something else similarly misleading.
Think it happened @ 6 months ago so it may be working through the system yet.
here you go - last winter:

(95,337 posts)In general I stopped using ketchup although I keep a bottle of organic ketchup in the fridge if someone needs it. That uses just regular cane sugar.

(7,699 posts)It was really good! I didn't see her make it because I was out at the nursing home visiting our parents,
but she made 5 pints in the course of an afternoon.

(22,271 posts)(I can everything that isn't nailed down) and at one point I ran out of veggie stock so I had to go buy commercial. The VEGGIE STOCK had HFCS! Now, I've made hundreds of jars of all kinds of stock and I've never used HFCS. Hell, it doesn't even have sugar or salt.
btw, congrats! I'm trying to lose 70 myself. 15 down, 55 more to go.

(95,337 posts)I drank them early in the night then watched the concert. You couldn't have alcohol on the GA section of the floor and I was right up front by the stage. I have great video of when they sang 'The General Specific'

(30,947 posts)But she had gastric bypass surgery. That was several years ago, but she is packing back on the weight. I hate to see it, but she is a junk food eater such as MacDonald's, Burger King, etc.

(95,337 posts)I haven't touched fast food since last August outside of salads from Saladworks and Panera. And I read labels like crazy to make sure that their isn't high fructose corn syrup in it. My biggest worry was that I would get this weight off but not change the eating habit so I have been working hard on the eating and exercise in hopes to change those so that the weight will stay off.
And one day at a time.
Maybe she can try something like that to help with the eating. She has an addiction and I know what food addiction is like.

(17,340 posts)Here's a link to Gardot's website http://melodygardot.co.uk
She's going to be at the Merriam.
Her show last year there was amazing. And as she is from Philly, the audience was very warm and welcoming.

(3,445 posts)I've lost 70 pounds in the last year. Unfortunately, the last month or so has been a real bitch, and I've gained back 5+ pounds. Trying to stop eating all the junk I have stress eating has been difficult, but I'm sticking to it. No way am I going back--not ever.
Enjoy your new self! You have definitely earned it!

(26 posts)That is quite an achievement. I hear you about HFCS-it is the devil. Now they're hiding it in American food by calling it 'fructose'. I noticed it on the labels when I visited the States a few weeks back.
LynneSin
(95,337 posts)and I stick with the products I already know do not use them. I shop trader Joes and Giant Foods has a great, affordable organic food line.

(95,337 posts)it was a family trip I did with my father and my uncle and his family. Unfortunately my uncle passed away probably when I was 10 and my father when I was 13. So that trip to Kitty Hawk was one of my very happy memories of life because of my dad and my favorite uncle. I remember flying kites there and having a great time with my cousins. I'd like to go back there sometime.
