(looks like you figured it out while I was typing)
If you got it in an email either right-click on the image or left-click on the attachment and follow the cues to save it to your local drive somewhere.
Next you need an account on an image sharing service. I use Photobucket which is free. Log into that service and follow the directions there to upload your image from your local drive.
Next (in Photobucket or whatever service, look for instructions for sharing the link to the photo. You're going to want to end up with a string that looks something like "h t t p ://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/gidneyncloyd/bush-family-spaceballs_sm.jpg" (that's the string for my sig photo but I added spaces between h t t p so it would show in this post)
Next you want to your DU My Profile page, scroll down to Signature, click Edit, and paste that string into the text field. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page and you should be all set.
