The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsA question for those old enough to have been "Flower Power People."
I am posting this question in the Lounge because the people here seem nicer and
more receptive than on General Discussion.
In the 60's, I waged a one woman war on "The Man". "The Man" included parents, corporate big shots
war mongers, organized religion, and most especially, "The Government" . At what point in time did
"The Left" become enamored/ultra supportive/dependent on Government ?
It seems now that (even among my friends), if I mention a distrust of Government (both sides) and what I feel
it's limited role should be, I am instantly labeled as some sort of sort of neo-con. What changed? Did I
have it wrong in the 60's?
Please post even handed, respectful responses. I don't feel like fighting today.lol

(10,337 posts)"the man" says. "the man" also includes all corporate media. That's not to say that we should do away with things like the EPA, DOT etc. Government programs that try to protct we the people from the greed of the oligarchs. Not that they're very good at it.
If we the people get off our collective asses and vote, maybe it can be better.
