the pooches to so they can wait outside.

My neighborhood boulangerie in Paris had one next to the table & chairs they'd set outside. I had lil Kevin tied up there for a couple minutes on our regular visits until someone spooked him, he pulled against the table and chairs and knocked them over, frightening him to bits and he screamed bloody murder! He's a bit of a drama queen, being a sensitive boy. THEN the guy butted in front of me in line when I went to calm him down and get him untangled!!

Just a warning, do not EVER piss off the bakery ladies, they were so pissed off at the guy and were righteously indignant for me, bless their hearts.

From that day on the ladies in the bakery gave Kevin special rights and he could wait in line with me, and he always got a little snack from all of them, much to his waistline and delight.

9. Dogs are much more present in public in Europe than here.

We spent a month in France and were surprised to see dogs not on a leash in a grocery store with their owners. They went everywhere their people went. Yes, I did see some small piles near walls, but they had street/sidewalk washers come through twice a day so it wasn't a big problem.

Love this solution, so typically European.

So, really, can only speak to those 2 countries. However, I was under the impression (mistakenly it seems) that all Europe was like that.
