The summer movie season has already delivered big hits like Joss Whedons The Avengers: Age of Ultron, George Millers Mad Max: Fury Road, and Colin Trevorrows Jurassic World - but if you think were close to done you better think again, as the next couple months are filled with more anticipated blockbusters. (21,925 posts)I just wish the suits at the studios in Hollywood (like the ones I used to work for) would take more risks and make original movies with fresh concepts like they used to. So many films now have what are perceived to be built-in profitability from well known franchises or familiar marketable names from comic books or previous sequels. What if in previous times no one was willing to risk writing and publishing some of these Marvel Comics, or the original Avengers, or the original Mad Max, or the original Jurassic Park? There are so many great horror and science fiction writers who have interesting ideas that could make great fresh and original movies.

(59,221 posts)It's a dream come true to see my favorite heroes and villains on screen in ways that remind me why I read them in the first place. I would say that Guardians of the Galaxy was a huge risk as was casting Robert Downey, Jr. I understand your point that we do need more original films, but we comic fans are having a blast right now.
