Go to your favorite news feed. MSN, Yahoo! News, whatever. Click on a story about the recent Supreme Court rulings (you know the ones) and go to the comments. Oh my goodness! Now if you take seriously the demented online rantings of people you've never met before, don't do this.
I repeat: DON'T. DO. THIS.
But if you can detach yourself from the issue, or if you - like me - are too happy that we won a couple, it's a scream. The incoherence. The spitting-mad non sequiturs. The impotent rage. I'm having a blast.

(10,418 posts)I think what bothers me most about opposition to same-sex marriage is that a lot of people think that gay people are somehow forcing them to do something they don't want to do or that they are against, morally. How ego-centric. It has nothing to do with straight people unless they happen to be close to people who are gay, like me. I couldn't be happier for my LGBT brothers and sisters.

(82,849 posts)Some of the knuckleheads are going to find out - to their very great surprise - that they actually know some gay people after all. I don't know if it will change their lifestyle choice, but it will surely cause a few of them to stop and reconsider.

(28,945 posts)LGBTs have been and still are forced to do things that they didn't want to do. Homophobes are terrified that LGBTs will return the favor. As you say, ego-centric. They're incapable of generosity and empathy, so they can't imagine either in others. They're rather pitiful.
