Why on earth to people get pets and then

just ignore them. My next door neighbors (two young guys) have two young dogs. At some point in the morning they put them in the backyard and leave them there until late at night. The dogs do have a doghouse (which they do use) but the owner are not consistent in putting water our for them and we are now in 90+degree weather.

When I get home from work and take my baby outside I usually walk over to the fence and siay to the dogs and give them some pats. Today they had no water. There is a fish pond which the dogs used for water last summer (because their water dishes rarely had water in them). The owners have blocked their access to the fish pond so they have no other source if their water dishes are not filled up every day. I took a bowl of water over and split it between the two dog dishes and left a note on the door. The note is now gone but do you think anyone went out and filled up the water dishes? No. I ended up taking one of my dog dishes and gently lowering it over the fence where it is shaded and where I could add water to it from my side of the fence.

I will keep an eye on the water situation but I am not very happy with the owners right now. I feel bad for the dogs. The older one (maybe 3 years old) has separation anxiety. I feel like I should take a lawn chair and sit over by the fence and read so that they feel like there is someone there for them.

You are a kind soul to care for them, but the owners need to take responsibility.
