Can I say, that in my humbled opinion, I was disappointed. That is all...

(41,833 posts)Michael Crichton who was the author and creator of Jurassic Park. His other books were stunning as well. When I heard they were making the first movie, I was very much excited, and expected it to follow the book, but of course it didn't as many of Hollywood writers change things around because of what they think the audience will like, and not like. I can't say I was that disappointed in the first movie, and grew to like it, on its own merritt. The second book came out,(I had heard grumblings that Michael Crichton reluctantly wrote it..) and they used parts of the first and second book and strung them together. I thought the second movie was "okay" and like most sequels, was not as good as the first. By the time the third movie came out, they basically forced Michael Crichton to write it...as I heard He really didn't want to. He was the kind of writer, who once he broached a subject, and did it well, He didn't wish to repeat it with sequels, but reluctantly did the job, knowing how badly Hollywood can screw things up and make him look bad!
I won't talk about this latest movie,(Crichton was dead so there never was a fourth book) as people haven't seen it yet. I would suggest if anyone is half way interested, it be far better to rent it from Netflix or watch it on HBO. I would not want to spend another 15 to 20 dollars to see this movie...even on the IMAX screen.

(660 posts)I thought it was an incredibly entertaining and surprisingly kid friendly movie. Took my son the day after it released and he won't stop talking about it. I loved every moment of the film, it was paced just right. And now I am trying to get my wife to wear her hair like the redhead did.

(14,944 posts)And I loved the ending! It was just the right amount of campy, an homage to Japanese King Kong/Mothra films. I liked it.
