Who else is roasting? Raleigh NC in for three weeks of 95+ temps, solid week at 100 or more

This is just silly - it's still spring (well, barely). We are either roasting or melting (pick your adjective).

Keeping a garden healthy and happy in this is really, really tough - and I have the time to do it (watering twice per day) - I can imagine dead and diseased plots appearing everywhere over the next month....

I stay in my air-conditioned house and if I go anywhere, it is in my air-conditioned car to air-conditioned stores. I avoid the outdoors heat in the summer whenever possible.

Lots of moisture in the air but very little rain. 84 degrees and partly cloudy right now.

and it is plenty hot enough.
We are blessed with lots of trees, so have shade around the house, plus the house is thick brick walls, and the sun room has excellent double paned windows and shade blinds.
That and the ceiling fans really help keep the house cool. I sure appreciate the former owners who laid out the big bucks for the windows and fans.

Extra blessing in that we do not have be outside except to water critical plants.

Looks like that Gulf storm is gonna swing north of us, tho , and we will miss out on the needed rain.

It's also humid in NC, right? Makes it 100 times worse, I've heard

The past two days in Northern California have been in the high 60s to low 70s, though that can and will change at any time.

(Last week we had a couple of days where the temps were in the 90s and the humidity was high as well.)

This is why summer is my least favourite season!!

I'm ready to return. My home state is NC, but I cannot take the weather here anymore.

At least in Florida I could jump in the ocean at any time.

I've never been to Florida but I'm assuming the beaches are much like those in Hawaii-- nice and temperate.

We're lucky in California that we don't have high humidity as a rule-- makes the summers more bearable, so I've been told.

We're used to this. We tend to be at least 10 degrees cooler than L.A. in the cool season and 10 degrees hotter in the hot season. I even had to use my A/C.

but this is not new for me.

We have a small garden and a few potted tomatoes. A patch of flowers in the front yard, some pots on the porch and a couple ferns in the back. That's it and it's STILL work to keep up with them in this heat. The poor plants on the porch wilted just after a day.

Come on, October!!!!!!

I never experienced walking out of a building and having my glasses fog up until I lived in College Station. Impressive heat and humidity.
