Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsFun game......the porn star name game.........
Take the name of your first pet.....then the name of the street you grew up on.
That would be your adult actress / actor name.
Mine would be....Sandy Cranberry...lol

(14,400 posts)Not really all that good as a porn star name.
I'll steal Buck Naked from George Costanza instead.

(14,400 posts)although as an entrepreneurial potential porn star I'd be afraid that that name would limit me to a niche market.

(20,176 posts)I know they are not posted with malice but these kinds of games are actually used frequently to obtain information for identity theft.
- Name of your first pet?
- Street you grew up on?
- Name of your first school?
- Mother's maiden name?
- Father's middle name?
- Childhood nickname?
- handfuls of similar innocuous questions.
All information requested by these kinds of social games.
All fairly standard security question for banks, credit cards, credit information, healthcare exchanges and other protected data repositories.

(5,504 posts)The purpose of these types of games, which originated on MySpace and became prevalent on Facebook, was from the outset as a tool used by identity thieves to acquire answers to security questions. They post it as a fun little game and nobody thinks about what is being asked and it propagates as a kind of social virus. Run a search for your "social game" (e.g. porn-star name) a few days later and viola...pages of search-results of the answers to people's security questions.
How does that make the jump from a place like DU? Well...people are dumb, they tend to reuse user names...which in-turn eventually link back to either a real name or an email account...and the email account is just another rabbit-hole that eventually leads to someone's real name. From that, it's all inevitability...name, spouse's name, address, phone number, SS#, DoB, Place of Birth...and it's all down him from there until a grifter is buying porn and Manolo Blahniks on your good credit or worse getting a passport issued in your name.

(1,958 posts)from the information on this thread, unless of course somebody posts here AND THEIR USERNAME IS ALSO THEIR NAME IRL!

(20,176 posts)I can't tell you how one steals an ID starting only from an anonymous screenname because it would be tantamount to giving someone else instructions on how to commit identity theft but suffice it to say...the hardest part of graft and ID theft is getting the answers to these kinds of security questions.
Everything else is at fingertips because people are unfortunately dumb.

Whitey was an albino white mouse. He escaped one day and my father recaptured him when he was hiding behind the fridge (the mouse, not my father), but unfortunately squished the poor thing in his enthusiasm.
I wept for hours while my father stood by looking devastated.
