I hit Fort Jackson, SC in September of 1982.

I never thought I'd make it to get this old.

Inducted at Fort Wayne, then a train to Louisville. Fort Knox was too crowded, too many draftees, a bunch of us got flown to Fort Bliss (El Paso)

I still vividly remember The Doors "The End" playing at the Reception Center as we filled out our post cards to our next of kin at 3AM...

This was our unofficial flight song. I have to say that I did a very cool dance to it while buffing the Day Room floor. (Still snicker at the inflight refueling scene.)

The last movie I saw before reporting to MEPS was "Labyrinth". I spent the hellish weeks of Basic dreaming of that opening shot of Jennifer Connelly in that gown...

In 1973, wow 38 years, I had just started Armor AIT this week.
Time changes too, The Armor School has left Ft Knox for Benning. My old man, a lifer tanker met my Mom at a social at Ft Knox in 1943.
