So here's where I grilled a grasshopper:

This was our layover hotel in Narita, Japan.

I was flying 747s for Nippon Cargo.

In summer the hotel opened an outdoor beer bar and hibachi restaurant.
We had two crews laying over that evening.
The other two guys on my crew had been recruited from Aer Lingus. The other crew were South Africans who had hired on from SAA.

We were grilling our grub (marinated beef and chicken) when a HUGE grasshopper landed on my plate.
Did I mention the beer bar?
We'd had a few.

With a sense of bravado , I beheaded the hopper, dipped it in some soy sauce, and put it on the hibachi.
When it was golden brown, I popped it into my mouth.
Tasted kinda nutty.

My mates were amazed, and then, not to be outdone...
they all went looking for there own grasshoppers.

Someone gave them to me and told me they were nuts and then I saw the jar they came out of.
