i find it interesting that we want to cuddle with things that can eat us 
They are a rounded shape and those little pink pads look so cushy. I love to squeeze paws....until the claws come out. They always do cute things with those paws, too, like how they sit in a little ball with the two paws neatly sticking out in front.
It's very interesting how cats looks so cuddly and harmless, yet they are the most effective predator out there, if left in the wild. That's why they can afford to sleep all the time--they're so efficient as hunters.

both mine came to me declawed and mira doesn't like having her hands messed with. harvey doesn't mind much of anything you do to him, as long as it doesn't involve belly rubs.
not sure if you have netflix, but they have a three-part bbc series called tiger: spy in the shadows. it follows a mama and her four cubs as she raises them to adulthood. it was fascinating.
