So how is the music where you work? (RANT)

It sucks where I work. Classic rock all day long. The same 50 or so songs over and over again.
Day after day, week after week, month after month.
Many of these songs sucked when they were new. They suck now, they will suck for all eternity.
Don't get me wrong some of these songs are OK or were OK. To be truthful if I never
hear any of these songs ever again It will be to soon. Note that there will be no recognition of
paragraphs, spelling or grammar because this is a rant. How can people listen to the same shit day after day? Me, I prefer to
work to Bach. My job requires concentration, reading blueprints and building one of a kind pieces that
will be viewed by millions of people. The company I work for is all about creativity. We have a division
called "Creative". So how is it that creativity in music ended like 30 years ago? The highlight of my day is
the 20 minute break in the morning and the 30 minute lunch because the radio is silent. I'm not sure why that is.
the company doesn't supply the music. The music selection appears to me to be something of a seniority issue.
Fuck old people and I'm 57. I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. I can deal with the bigotry, racism, homophobia,
the splinters of wood in my hands and the stray staple that shoots into my finger, all in a days work
but I don't think I can do the music for another day. the following songs get on my last nerve.

"Fly Like an Eagle" by The Steve Miller Band
"Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen
"Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult
"Black Water" by The Doobie Brothers
"Tom Sawyer" by Rush
"Take It Easy" by The Eagles
"Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith
"Barracuda" by Heart
"All Right Now" by Free
"Layla" by Derek and the Dominoes
"Baba O'Reilly" by The Who
"Back in Black" by AC/DC
Taking Care of Business - Bachman Turner Overdrive
Evil Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
Roundabout - Yes
Money - Pink Floyd
Cat's In The Cradle - Harry Chapin
I Want You To Want Me - Cheap Trick
Everybody's Working For The Weekend - Loverboy
Angel In A Centerfold - J. Geils Band
Fly Like An Eagle - Steve Miller Band

End of rant.

That's what I do when I can't have pandora.com playing out loud on my computer.

With Pandora.com you can pick an artist or a music genre and they play similar music which you can give a thumbs up to if you like and thumbs down on if you don't want to ever hear it again.

I use them at work but I can still hear important sounds like the telephone or someone speaking my name. I will also use just one earbud when necessary. Our favorite music will relax us so we're not uptight all the time which constricts blood flow through the body and the brain so our muscles and capillaries can work smoothly which in turn makes us more alert and energized. Imagine all those tense muscles getting a chance to relax while you work.

I let my staff listen to whatever they want to as long as they use headphones. But I, unfortunately, do not listen to any music when at work. I am either on conference calls or in meetings.

and we have a 30,000 song music server built out of spare parts left over from previous upgrades and I can stream any or all of it to my desktop. "Server" is actually too lofty a designation - it's just a shared network drive and everyone handles their own serving with whatever player they want. I like Winamp because I can make smart filters to get me damn near any playlist I want.

It's mostly my music that I've brought in over the years so I think it's pretty awesome, but we have been adding other people's stuff too.

It's heavy on Metal but also includes classic rock (including most of OP songs) classical, Jazz, R&B, Rap, New Wave, Country (heavy on bluegrass and weird country), dance/trance/pants, etc...

In NYC, there must be some kind of law mandating playing Billy Joel at least twice an hour.
