Madonna is an insecure, pretentious nobody. Dave knows she's a fraud.

I know nothing, one song by whomever, just what I see on chat shows and she one-words-everything to seem "profound." She says ONE WORD, like "reductive" (what does that mean?!1) and she thinks pretends she's "deep." Dave put her away years ago:

But, she'd love to know that she's made you think about her enough to go to the trouble to post a thread about how much you hate her.

in that interview by showing she was big enough to take on the show business elite. Letterman was the perfect foil for that, because back then he could be much nastier. Cher called him an asshole too.

That was 21 years ago, BTW.

And continues that today.
Has ALWAYS supported the LGBTQ community.
Builds schools in Africa.
Has an anti-bullying campaign.
Has supported the Roma people in their struggle for human rights...
etc.

I remember a number of years ago, here in the Lounge there was a thread about Madonna being booed in Eastern Europe for making anti-homophobia speeches from the stage.

There were quite a few DUers who posted "hooray! Madonna got booed!"

The way people love to hate Madonna makes them completely blind sometimes.

Apologize, that is, to those here who admire her for her career accomplishments and charities and social justice issues.

Not to her, that is, since I harbor no imagination that she lives or dies by what a pipsqueak nonentity like me thinks of her, besides that our individual likes and dislikes have near-zero correlation to good works. LIMBOsevic and many other horrible people contribute more to charity or perform other good works than I ever will even if I had a thousand life spans. When I look at PBS I have to get past the KOCH brothers being cited as patrons of some of the shows I view.

My post was set off by the article below about Dave's supposedly nastiest interactions. I've looked at them again and really I don't see him being that actually nasty. Where Cher called him an asshole, it was a long pleasant chat and she returned to the show many times, including with Sonny where Dave tenderly forced them to sing the big song. In the BIEBER interview, I don't see that he was that mean, just that BIEBER looked appealingly bewildered and probably did have hurt feelings at his own youthful ignorance showing through, on its own I would add.

Not shown here is Shirley MacLAINE who truly was cluelessly rude and ugly TO HIM where she thought she was being kewl by repeating Cher's "asshole" remark without Cher's obvious friendliness to him. Dave had been very respectful in introducing her and when she was gone from the stage he said, like what happened here, "Was it me?!1 Was it her?!1"

Anyway, if Madonna's reading this, which I'm sure you are, I stand by what I said about you and gleefully admit that many epithets can truthfully be lobbed at me. The problem is that Madonna, the gigantic public figure that she is would probably stoop to lobbing them at an insignificant pipsqueak like me.

Johnny wanted him there. Of course Johnny might be a big jerk, too.

I like Letterman's humor for the most part. We usually don't know what celebrities are like in real life so I go by do I think they are funny. I think Dave is funny.

I hear off screen he treated women like dirt. I also know on screen he twice did everything he could to get Al Gore and Barack Obama into the white house.
