we hit rain and snow, but that's crossing the colorado rockies in may
we're settled in our cabin outside one of the ski towns and the husband is napping after a soak in the hot tub. the roads were wet, but the drive wasn't bad. i'm just hoping we can get down the mountain so easily on sunday.
here's a burn area from the big fire in 2012, it still looks a lot the same as it did right after.

We took the northern route home from Arizona to Chicago in November. I wanted to see the Grand Canyon and didn't want to back track down to Flaggstaff to take the southern route home.
We did Wolf Creek pass at night and a week after they had some snow. It was probably not a great idea as there was still some ice on the roads. I remember saying "it's good there is no other traffic on the road so I can take it slow as I feel comfortable. But it's also bad that everybody else has enough sense to stay off the roads"
We didn't see any scenery. And that may have been a good thing - not seeing over the edge. 
I didn't know Wolf Creek Pass was a thing until the next day I heard The Ballad of Wolf Creek Pass on the radio. doh!
