National Coconut Cream Pie Day Celebrate this holiday with a big piece of a sweet coconut delight.Cream pie is a type of pie, made of crust and filled with a rich custard or pudding. The pudding can have different flavors, and one of them is coconut. Cream pie is always great, and you can choose what kind of dessert you want. For example, you may leave the crust, if you don't want it, and enjoy only the filling.
There are different recipes for pie crust you can use. You can make the crust with a coconut, that will make an extra hit of coconut flavor. If you want something special, then use chocolate cookie crumb pie shell, that goes well with coconut filling.
Some extra ideas will be useful to make coconut filling more flavorful. Add some crushed pineapple for a pineapple coconut cream or diced ripe bananas for a banana coconut cream. The both variants are great, as well as simple coconut cream. And as far as coconut cream pie is good for every day, not only for today, you can make this dessert any time you wish. https://anydayguide.com/calendar/1010
Iris Day Lets sit back and smell the Irises, my friends, because they are, at least in some respects, head and shoulder over that dusty, old, bygone, the rose! The fresh, sumptuous lustre of their dewy, iridescent blossoms on a spring day, the perky, shivery, curious stem scouting the air and the mesmerising blush of rainbow colours make it a sight for anyones sore eyes. The name comes from the Greek word for rainbow and most mythology adepts will tell you Iris was the messenger of the gods, the link between sea and sky, the rainbow glider, if you will. Doesnt that just inspire you to find a bunch of Irises for your girlfriend, mother, daughter and sister right now? It should, because on Iris Day, all is forgiven if you bring a bunch of these to your special someone; so if youve been naughty, nows the time to be nice. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/iris-day/
No Socks Day Kick off your socks and wiggle your toes for No Socks Day! Go barefoot for a day (carefully, of course), and enjoy the feeling of foot-freedom. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/no-socks-day/
V E Day Events across the UK and the rest of Europe this weekend will commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE Day - the end of World War Two on the continent.
A two-minute silence will be held at London's Cenotaph on Friday to mark the moment Winston Churchill announced that the war with Germany was over.
And on Friday evening, more than 200 beacons will be lit around the UK.
There were street parties across the UK when Germany surrendered on 8 May 1945, bringing to a close six years of war. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-32626551

World Red Cross / Red Crescent Day World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration held on May 8. It commemorates the birthday of Henry Dunant, Swiss businessman and social activist who inspired the creation of International Committee of the Red Cross.
In 1859, Henry Durant made a business trip to Italy and witnessed the aftermath of the Battle of Solferino. He was greatly moved by what he saw and recorded his impressions in the book A Memory of Solferino.
In the book, he developed the idea of a neutral organization aimed at providing care to wounded soldiers. Eventually this idea was supported by many influential people. Thus the International Committee of the Red Cross was founded. Today it is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
The Red Cross was chosen as an emblem because it represented the Swiss flag (the committee was founded in Geneva). However, the Ottoman Empire refused to use it, claiming that the cross was a Christian symbol and using a Red Crescent instead. It was formally recognized as the second official symbol in 1929. https://anydayguide.com/calendar/518
